The veteran actor, filmmaker and chairamn of FICCI MEBC, Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan is proud of South Indian Film Industry. He maid a statement that 65 to 70 percent of total movies produced in India are from South which is of worht Rs 21,190 crores as per Deloitte report.
On the opening ceremony of Media and Entertainment Business Conclave (MEBC), a Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) initiative he told the lines, "I may sound like I'm bragging, but it's true. National cinema resides in the south because filmmakers there are not restricted to one language. They have taken the effort to go beyond the borders"
"South Indian cinema (Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam) has filmmakers such as D. Rama Naidu, who has produced films in as many as 13 languages, unlike filmmakers such as V. Shantaram, who made films only in Hindi and Marathi.
Barrie Osbourne who was the producer of the ovie 'The Lord of the Rings' was also at the ceremony along with producer Suresh Babu told that he was inspired by the vetran film maker Kamal and he announced, the both are planning to comeout with a project.
